ABOUT ME

Lexie :)

During my time studying for my first-class degree in creative writing, I was able to work with many established writers and industry professionals. To name a few: Joe Stretch, Lara Williams, Adam O'Riordan, Debbie Williams and Liz Scott. These creators, alongside many others, have been key in the development of the literature world and the publishing industry, and they have all inspired me to train to make my own contribution!

Since graduating I have worked on the development of many personal projects; a creative writing club, many editing and social media opportunities, and the beginnings of my own creative projects.

In my current career I work on proofreading and editing non-fiction writing from freelancers, whilst producing my own content for the team. I've developed my skills across many platforms and styles, and am excited to bring what I've learned to a new branch of writers!

EXPERIENCE

My Milestones

July 2025 - Current

Content Executive
Parcel2Go

This is the beginning of my career as a professional writer, editor and proofreader. Whilst within this role I have had the opportunity to use and develop skills that I learned during my studies, which has been a fulfilling experience. A lot of writers worry that they'll lose their passion, but writing throughout my workday has helped to maintain my love for writing!

Sept 2022 - May 2025

BA (Hons)
Creative Writing
First Class

Moving to Manchester and studying at Manchester Metropolitan University was the best decision I could have made for my writing career. I developed a variety of projects, from an exhibition showcasing body-horror, to my final dissertation - the start of my novel. Over three years I edited and proofread the work of many writers, across many genres, helping me to feel confident in my abilities to work with any author.

Oct 2022 - July 2025

Senior Bookseller
Waterstones

I will always be grateful for my chance to work as a bookseller in central Manchester - this role allowed me to develop my knowledge of the publishing industry, connect with readers and writers, and take on many personal projects. I dedicated time to the store's social media, implementing effective Pride displays every year, and creating new clubs - which I'm still apart of to this day! I spent my lunch breaks writing, and my days contemplating my role in the literature/publishing industry. This job helped me realise I want to write and publish my book, and I want to edit for other authors.
